 Here's the lowdown¹:
- BYD's Surge: BYD has overtaken Mitsubishi, with sales nearly quadrupling in the past year. Their electric vehicle sales have jumped 38% in 2024, with notable models including:

    - BYD Seal: 5,308 sales year-to-date
    - BYD Atto 3: 4,926 sales year-to-date
    - BYD Dolphin*: 1,740 sales year-to-date
- *Other Chinese Carmakers*:
    - MG: Ranked fifth with the MG4, selling 3,772 units, although sales have declined recently
    - GWM Ora: Sold 901 units, with a focus on affordable electric vehicles
    - Chery: Also saw significant sales growth, although exact figures aren't specified

Meanwhile, Tesla's sales have slumped, with a 19% drop year-to-date. Despite this, Tesla's Model Y and Model 3 remain top sellers with 16,697 and 14,053 units sold, respectively. The Australian electric vehicle market is becoming increasingly competitive, with over 75 different EV models available.
