RETURN POLICY

Effective Date: 29 April 2026

This Return Policy applies to all vehicle listings on www.carface.com.au ("Carface", "we," "our," or "us"). Please read this policy carefully before finalising any vehicle purchase.

1. Carface is a Marketplace Platform — Not a Seller

Carface operates solely as an online marketplace that connects vehicle buyers with sellers, which may be licensed motor vehicle dealers or private individuals. Carface is not a party to any transaction conducted between buyers and sellers on this platform. We do not own, sell, inspect, or take possession of any vehicle listed on our platform. Accordingly, Carface does not offer, administer, or guarantee any return or refund policy in relation to any vehicle purchased through our platform.

2. Returns for Dealer-Listed Vehicles

Where you purchase a vehicle from a licensed motor vehicle dealer listed on Carface, any return, refund, or exchange arrangement is solely a matter between you and the dealer. Return conditions will vary depending on:

  • The individual dealer's own return or exchange policy;
  • The specific terms agreed upon at the time of sale;
  • The condition, age, and type of the vehicle;
  • Applicable Australian consumer law obligations that may apply to the dealer.

We strongly recommend that buyers discuss and agree on any return conditions with the dealer prior to finalising the purchase. Carface is not responsible for any disputes arising from the absence of, or disagreement over, return terms between a buyer and a dealer.

3. Returns for Private Seller Vehicles

Vehicles listed by private sellers are sold on a private basis. In Australia, consumer guarantees under the Australian Consumer Law (ACL) generally do not apply to private sales. This means a private seller is under no legal obligation to accept a return or provide a refund unless a specific agreement has been made between the buyer and seller.

Buyers are strongly advised to thoroughly inspect any vehicle, arrange an independent mechanical inspection, and satisfy themselves as to the vehicle's condition before completing a private purchase. Once a private sale is finalised, the transaction is generally considered final.

4. Your Rights Under Australian Consumer Law

If you purchase a vehicle from a licensed dealer, you may have rights under the Australian Consumer Law in relation to major failures or goods not matching their description. These statutory rights exist independently of any dealer-level return policy. We encourage buyers to familiarise themselves with their consumer rights by visiting the Australian Competition and Consumer Commission (ACCC) website.

5. Carface Platform Fees

Fees paid to Carface for platform services (such as vehicle listing fees or dealer subscription fees) are charged for access to the platform and are non-refundable, except where required by applicable law. These fees are separate from the vehicle transaction itself and do not form part of the vehicle sale price.

6. Dispute Resolution

If you have a dispute regarding a vehicle purchase, the dispute is between you and the seller. Carface is not responsible for resolving such disputes and cannot compel a seller to accept a return or provide a refund. We encourage both parties to communicate directly and seek resolution in good faith. If the dispute cannot be resolved, you may wish to seek independent legal advice or contact a relevant consumer protection authority in your state or territory.
